Oak Tree

My take on creating a tree that can function as a hero asset while also integrating well into a larger composition. The asymmetrical bottom branches add character to the hero asset. However, when the tree is rotated, they blend together and complement one another effectively, making their status as duplicates of the same asset less noticeable.

I used SpeedTree to create this asset. The high-poly leaf was sculpted in Blender, then baked and textured in Substance Painter. The procedural bark material was created in Substance Designer and set up in Unreal 5 material nodes, allowing me to control the lichen placement and density using height and vertex paint lerps.
